Why Join IBM Ring 398?

The multiple answers to this question cluster into two main categories.  The first is Peer Affiliation, the chance to socialize and affiliate with other like-minded individuals who have a real passion for magic.

Second, Ring 398 affords you an incredible Magic Education opportunity. Our members represent over 300 years of cumulative experience in magic and enjoy sharing it with other magicians.

Magic is about so much more than just learning its secrets. Frankly, that’s a small part of it. You also need to develop an entertaining presentation, master sound and lighting techniques, use good voice projection, develop your own performance persona, appreciate magic history, and market your magic skills.

The best way to learn magic is by working with mentors—and that’s what Ring 398 does.

We welcome anyone to check out our meetings for free!

We recently surveyed our members and asked them why they decided to join Ring 398.  In capsule form, here’s what they said.

Peer Affiliation

  • I like to share my passion for magic with others.
  • I enjoy socializing with others who share my interests.
  • I enjoy rubbing elbows with other magicians.
  • It’s very rewarding to talk with others who “speak my   language.”
  • I love feedback and constructive ideas in a face-to-face      environment from other club magicians whom I know and respect.
  • Since my opportunities to perform publicly are limited   because of the covid pandemic, Ring 398 gives me the opportunity to keep      my magic skills sharp at least twice a month.
  • I like the comfortable  small group settings where I can learn detailed performance techniques. I  love indulging my curiosity.

Magic Education

  • I really enjoy learning new magic tips and techniques.
  • I like to continually build my magic skill base.
  • I like going to a place where I can learn from prominent      professionals.
  • Since Ring 398 have over 300 cumulative years’ experience in      magic, members are always available to help me.
  • I get more out of a prepared lecture than a show n’ tell   because the Ring is about how-to-do, not about how it’s done.
  • I get more out of a prepared lecture than a show n’ tell   because the Ring is about how-to-do, not about how it’s done.
  • I much prefer the “Hands-On” Performing / Learning experience      as opposed to the “passive, one-way absorption method” of reading a Magic   Book or watching a Magic video.
  • I get personalized feedback that teaches me new techniques   and tips to become a better performer.

Become a member.  We’ll save a seat for you at our next meeting.
